Plating Guidelines Zinc Platings || Cadmium Platings || Electro-Tin/Solderable Platings || Nickel Platings || Passivation of Stainless Steel || Dry Film Lubricants BRIGHT NICKEL OVER COPPER FLASH ( CN ) Applicable Industry Spec: ASTM B689, TYPE II The parts shall be capable of passing an adhesion test per ASTM B571 and the Hot Water Porosity Test per ASTM B689 for steel parts or the Flowers-of-Sulfur Test for porosity per ASTM B809 for copper and copper alloy parts. Typically, bright nickel over copper flash offered by PEM is .0001" to .0004" of nickel applied over a .00005" minimum copper flash coat applied to all significant surfaces. Significant surfaces exclude such features as threads, holes, deep recesses and bases of angles. Steel parts requiring embrittlement relief after plating are baked according to industry standards. SEMI-BRIGHT NICKEL ( N ) Applicable Industry Spec: QQ-N-290, CLASS 1, GRADE G The parts shall be capable of passing an adhesion test per QQ-N-290. Typically, semi-bright nickel offered by PEM is .0002" to .0004" of nickel applied to all significant surfaces. Significant surfaces exclude such features as threads, holes, deep recesses and bases of angles. SEMI-BRIGHT ELECTROLESS NICKEL ( EN ) Applicable Industry Spec: MIL-C-26074, CLASS 1 The parts shall be capable of passing an adhesion test per MIL-C-26074. Typically, semi-bright electroless nickel offered by PEM is .0002" to .0004" of electroless nickel applied to all significant surfaces. Significant surfaces exclude such features as threads, holes, deep recesses and bases of angles.
