PLUS CLEAR CHROMATE ( ZI )
Applicable Industry Spec: ASTM
B633-98, SC1, TYPE III, COLORLESS
- The
parts shall be capable of passing a 12 hour salt spray test
to white corrosion per ASTM B117.
- Typically,
zinc plus clear chromate offered by Penn Engineering is .0002"
minimum of zinc applied to all significant surfaces. Significant
surfaces exclude such features as threads, holes, deep recesses
and base of angles.

A clear chromate conversion coating is applied after zinc plating.

Steel parts requiring embrittlement relief after plating are
baked according to industry standards.
ZINC PLUS YELLOW
CHROMATE ( ZC )
Applicable Industry Spec: ASTM
B633-98, SC1, TYPE II, YELLOW
- The
parts shall be capable of passing a salt spray test per ASTM
B117 as follows: 96 hours minimum without white corrosion and
120 hours without red rust corrosion on significant surfaces.
- Typically,
zinc plus yellow chromate offered by PEM is .0002" minimum of
zinc applied to all significant surfaces. Significant surfaces
exclude such features as threads, holes, deep recesses and base
of angles.
- An
iridescent yellow chromate conversion coating is applied after
zinc plating.
- Steel
parts requiring embrittlement relief after plating are baked
according to industry standards.
ZINC
PLUS CLEAR TRIVALENT CHROMATE PLUS SEALANT/LUBRICANT
( LZ )
Applicable Industry Spec: ASTM
B633, SC1, TYPE III, COLORLESS PLUS SEALANT/LUBRICANT
The parts shall be capable of passing a 72 hour salt spray
test to white corrosion per ASTM B117.
Typically, zinc plus clear chromate offered by Penn Engineering
is .0002" minimum of zinc applied to all
significant surfaces. Significant surfaces exclude
such features as threads, holes, deep recesses and base of
angles.
A
clear trivalent chromate conversion coating is applied after
zinc plating.
The sealant/lubricant increases corrosion resistance and adds
needed lubricity for locknuts such as type
HNL.
Steel parts requiring embrittlement relief after plating are
baked according to industry standards.
ZINC
PLUS OTHER CHROMATE CONVERSION COATINGS
Other
chromate conversion coatings such as black, blue and olive color
are available on special order. These colored chromate coatings
offer various degrees of corrosion resistance. The following
