Job Summary:

Perform small lot cnc production cell functions with minimal supervision to meet corporate product and process development needs and objectives. This position includes the Programming, Set up and Operation of Small Lot CNC Production Cell equipment, primarily Swiss Type Automatic CNC Lathes, under limited supervision. Perform all duties within the Small Lot Production cell necessary to meet corporate product and process needs and objectives to process quick-turn, high quality, small lot jobs. Adhere to Small Lot Cell procedures, guidelines and work instructions. Communicate with other departments in conjunction with jobs and projects being worked on. Complete all work according to agreed to schedules.

Essential Functions:
• Manufactures small orders of fasteners with minimal supervision using Swiss Type Automatic Lathes with Sliding Headstock.
• Machine standard, special, and new product fasteners complete with minimal assistance.
• Completes assigned Production Cell tasks, functions, special projects and jobs as directed. Follows Small Lot Production Cell procedures, guidelines, and work instructions.
• Communicates and works effectively with members from all areas throughout the corporation. Provides assistance when necessary or called upon.
• Receives general direction from the Production Cell Sr. Technician and works from detailed part drawings, specifications, and instructions.

Tasks
• With minimal assistance, perform basic CNC machine programming, setups and tool selection.
• With minimal assistance, operate Small Lot CNC Production Cell equipment, primarily Swiss Type Automatic CNC Lathes. Other equipment includes but is not limited to standard lathes, mills, grinders and saws.
• Use various inspection techniques and equipment to ensure high quality products.
• Read, understand and follow blueprints, programs, drawings and related instructions.
• With training and guidance from the CNC Cell Sr. Technician, Program various model multi-axis CNC turning centers using TB DECO, Partmaker, and other machining software.
• Check all products manufactured for adherence to quality specifications.
• With minimal assistance makes necessary machine and/or program adjustments to produce good parts.
• Handles all material and part movement into, through, and out of the Cell.
• Obtains tooling using VMI system.
• With minimal assistance performs tear down and set-up of all equipment within the cell
• With minimal assistance performs preventative maintenance on all equipment within the cell.

Other Duties
• Performs all assigned job duties with minimal supervision in their entirety with heavy emphasis on quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Keeps work areas in a neat and orderly condition with daily and weekly cleanup of the shop area.
• Maintains an accurate record of time spent on all jobs and projects.
• Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings.
• Submits purchase requisitions for supplies as necessary.
• Strives to perform job duties at a high level of professionalism and thoroughness utilizing knowledge, training, and prior work experience. Employs cooperation, open-mindedness, and creativity to confront and complete challenging work assignments.
• Performs all other duties as required.

Physical Requirements
• Manual dexterity, mobility, and visual acuity sufficient to operate machine tools safely.
• Ability to work in both air-conditioned and non-air conditioned office and shop environments.
• Must be able to stand throughout an 8hr shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Visual acuity for detailed work. Must have 20/25 vision or better with or without corrective lenses.
• The individual must successfully complete the pre-employment vision screening and annually thereafter.

Education / Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent with good skills in mathematics, trigonometry, and both written and verbal communications.
• A good mechanical aptitude and have working knowledge of precision machinery including CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Familiarity with computers and software programs / programming for CNC equipment, spreadsheets, word processing, and database operations.
• He/she must have a demonstrated understanding of fasteners, their manufacturing methods, and applications.
