Half Hex Rivet Nuts | Sherex® by PEM® Versatile Fasteners
Half Hex Rivet Nuts
Half hex rivet nuts are popular, blind fasteners designed to provide strong, permanent threads in thin or hollow materials where access is limited to one side of the workpiece. Unlike standard round-body rivet nuts, the half hex body features a partially hexagonal profile that prevents the fastener from spinning during installation and in service. Half hex rivet nuts provide better performance over typical round body rivet nuts, are installed in hexagonal holes, and can be installed using standard rivet nut installation tools.
This anti-rotation geometry makes them ideal for applications where high torque resistance is required, ensuring the nut remains fixed in place even under significant rotational loads.
Half hex rivet nuts are commonly manufactured in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, with various plating and finish options to suit corrosion resistance and environmental requirements.
Key Features
- Half hexagonal body provides anti-rotation resistance in a hexagonal hole
- Available in open-end and closed-end (sealed) configurations
- Suitable for steel, aluminium, and composite sheet materials
- Standard and large flange options available
- Thread sizes from M3 to M12 (metric) and equivalent unified sizes
- Multiple material grades and plating options

Typical Applications
- Automotive interior and trim assemblies
- Electronic panels and enclosures
- Industrial equipment where moderate anti-rotation performance is sufficient
- Applications transitioning from round body to full hex where tooling changes are not practical
- Thin-sheet assemblies with moderate torque requirements
Product Series
The Sherex® by PEM® half hex range includes CHLM (full metric, large flange), CHKI (small flange), and CAH (inch body, large flange) series. Each series is available across a range of thread sizes and material grades. Refer to individual product pages for full dimensional and performance data.
