RIV-FLOAT® Rivet Nuts | Sherex® by PEM® Floating Thread Fasteners
RIV-FLOAT® Rivet Nuts
The RIV-FLOAT® rivet nut from Sherex® by PEM® is engineered to simplify assembly in applications where hole misalignment between mating components creates fastening difficulties. The internally floating thread design allows the threaded insert to move radially within a defined range, enabling the fastener to self-align with a misaligned mating thread without the need for rework, adjusted hole positions, or additional assembly operations.
RIV-FLOAT® rivet nuts from Sherex® by PEM® provide a practical, cost-effective solution to tolerance stack-up challenges that are common in multi-component assembly environments.
Key Features
- Internally floating thread compensates for positional misalignment between mating holes
- Radial float range accommodates production tolerance variation
- Installed as a standard rivet nut — no specialist tooling required
- Reduces assembly rework and rectification costs
- Available in open-end and closed-end configurations
- Steel and stainless steel material options
- Thread sizes from M5 to M10 (metric)

RIV-FLOAT® Product Series
The RIV-FLOAT® range from Sherex® by PEM® includes three series designed to suit different installation requirements and float characteristics:
- RFL – standard round body, open end, with radial thread float
- RFK – round body, closed end (sealed), with radial thread float
- RFLS – slim body variant for tighter installation envelopes

Typical Applications
- Automotive sub-assemblies with multiple attachment points and tolerance stack-up
- Electronic chassis assembly where PCB or bracket alignment cannot be guaranteed
- Industrial machinery with high component counts and variable positional accuracy
- Any application where fastener-to-hole misalignment causes assembly delays or rework
