Google Pixel Teardown Summary

The Google Pixel is constructed from an Aluminum alloy chassis, which has plastic structure molded into it to support the core components. It contains a 5.0-inch AMOLED display and uses many adhesives to secure the outer structure of the phone together to add water resistance.
Various screws in the assembly can be replaced with rotary installed standoffs, SI inserts TackSerts, or microPEM® screws.
Below are certain alternatives featuring several PEM® fasteners that can help achieve better functionality and cost savings:

Alternative PEM® Solutions:

microPEM® Screws

PennEngineering® can provide all off these screws with different design solutions.
PEM has license with TORX ®, TORX PLUS®, MICROSTIX® driver and self-tapping
thread patents such as TAPTITE, FASTITE, REMFORM and REMFORM F.

TackSert® Pin

The screws that are used to hold the PC board, earphone jack and power charger on the
main body of the device, can be replaced by TackSert® pins. The TackSert® pins are a
permanent solution but the press-in installation is significantly quicker than the typical screw assembly.

PEM® Rotary Installed Fasteners

The Rotary installed fastener provides an alternative to laser welded or other joining methods
used in extremely thin sheet applications. The Rotary install method protects the backside of the sheet
preventing deformation while providing a permanent joint between the fastener and the sheet.

MSIA™ microPEM® Inserts For Plastic

MicroPEM® thru-threaded brass inserts for plastics introduce ideal fastener solutions to attach
components in compact electronic assemblies. These inserts can be installed into plastic components
to provide strong threads in an application where the plastic itself cannot support the part.
PennEngineering® can provide different sizes and types of MSIA to meet the application requirement.
The new MSIA series offer light weight, lead-free alternative.
